Körbersee – a jewel in nature
The Körbersee is located southwest of the Hochtannbergpass in the Austrian province of Vorarlberg in the municipality of Schröcken. It lies in the Lechquellengebirge at an altitude of 1654 m above sea level. A. and can only be reached on foot.
With a surface of about three hectares, it is a smaller lake in Vorarlberg, but stands out for its excellent drinking water quality. The lake offers a protected habitat for fish like trout, as well as the rare plants on the banks. Near the lake, a hotel is managed. Swimming is not forbidden, but even on hot days the water stays cool at around 14 ° C.
A few meters east of the Körbersee is the Kalbelesee another small mountain lake. The entire lake district is under nature protection and is designated as a biotope worthy of protection in the biotope inventory Vorarlberg.
About 125 m north of the Körbersee is a two-chairlift, which leads to the Falkenkopf (ski swing Falken (Körbersee)).
The Körbersee was voted the most beautiful place in Austria in 2017. In the show 9 places – 9 treasures, the ORF audiences voted for this chosen by the ORF Landesstudio Vorarlberg in a preliminary selection and proposed in the final place. This is the second time that Vorarlberg has won this competition, which has been run by the ORF for 4 years.
