In less than 100 years our village has transformed itself from a mountain farming community to a world famous tourist destination, without losing it’s unique Walser valley character. In contrast to many other tourist destinations Lech has managed to maintain it’s village character and local community atmosphere. For this to happen there needed to be a conscious effort to take care of the long-standing characteristics of Lech and it’s people, for example, the independent tradition, a hospitable nature, an endearing homeland with healthy natural resources and uniqueness. Lech am Arlberg is a member of “Best of the Alps” and was awarded the „most beautiful European village“ in 2004.
